to multiple reports, Major League Baseball has scheduled the Mets and Yankees
to face each other next September 11 as part of the league’s remembrance of the
20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The Mets and Yankees are scheduled to play at
Citi Field on Sept. 11, 2021, a source confirmed. It should be an emotional
night in remembrance of the 20th anniversary. The game would mark the first
time that the two teams have met on September 11, and just the second time that
both teams were home in New York City on that date. Great job by the scheduling wizards at Major
League Baseball. It's crazy to actually believe that we are already at the 20th
anniversary of that fateful day back in 2001. I'm sure it will be a somber
night for some, but a great tribute to those who lost their lives and all the
first responders who were heroes during those dark days. Hopefully by then we
would have gotten past the corona virus restrictions and there will be fans in
the seats. You know I'll be there..

For those of us who grew up in the 1980's there were many movies that have stuck in our heart even till this day. "Back to the Future", "Top Gun", "Goonies", and "Beetlejuice" have become etched in the brain of the children of the 1980s. Another such movie that has stood the test of time and could possibly be the most beloved of the decade is "The Princess Bride". "The Princess Bride" is a classic fairy-tale love story featuring some of the most entertaining characters ever to grace the big screen. And of course the film was ready for a quarantine style remake. The star studded "at home" remake features many of today's biggest stars. Jennifer Garner and Tiffany Haddish take turns playing the beautiful Princess Buttercup. Hugh Jackman gives it a go as the mean Prince Humperdinck. Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka also star in this new version, along with Jon Hamm, Patton Oswalt, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Common and Andy Serkis. The project will also raise fund for the World Central Kitchen, which has been providing meals to first responders and those in need throughout the pandemic. So take a stroll down memory lane and tune into the new streaming service Quibi and give this star studded reboot a watch. I'm sure you won't regret it.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular would go on as scheduled, with some "social distancing" changes. There will be a series of 5-minute shows in each of the five boroughs starting on Monday, June 29 and continuing throughout the week. "In reimagining this year's show, the idea of bringing elements to many parts of our hometown resonated with our team and partners in the City of New York," said Susan Tercero, executive producer Macy's 4th of July Fireworks. The smaller displays will continue throughout the week and then culminate with a grand finale on July 4. The grand finale will take place atop the Empire State Building where they will honor first responders and health care workers. This year, due to the staggering of the performances throughout the week, crowding shouldn't be as much of an issue. Mayor de Blasio says that the sites of the fireworks would not be announced beforehand in order to avoid the masses from gathering. Nice job by the City of New York to keep the tradition of the Macy's fireworks show intact. Just another sign that we are finally moving back to normalcy. BOOM!!
