Regenerative Agriculture
Modern day agriculture is facing critical challenges as a result of heavy tillage, monoculture farming and pesticide usage. These challenges are worsened by the changing climate making farms increasingly susceptible to floods, erosion, drought and diminished crop yields. The agriculture sector is currently one of the biggest emitters of CO2, losing topsoil and biodiversity at unsustainable rates, and farmers are facing declining profits.
Regrowing Produce
For those that live in an apartment without a yard, those looking to create a sustainable and regenerative source of food or even those just looking for a fun activity, try regrowing your store-bought vegetables and fruits.
Is Organic Better?
The USDA oversees and regulates the term “organic.” They state, “Produce can be called organic if it’s certified to have grown on soil that had no prohibited substances applied for three years prior to harvest.” Produce must also meet requirements regarding production methods and pesticide use.
