Plastic Waste

  • Did you know that ½ of the 300 million tons of plastic produced each year is used only once? 40% of plastic created is for packaging.

With an extra charge for plastic bags in stores and compostable straws in coffee shops, it almost seems as though we don't have a choice but to be more sustainable. This is a good thing and not only should we accept it but we should embrace it.

Due to covid-19, you will see changes in the cafe to ensure safety for everyone. It may appear as though we are taking some steps backward but I can assure you, sustainability is still on the forefront of our minds and efforts. We will be using more disposable utensils and containers but it doesn’t mean that at home, efforts still can't be made towards living life more sustainably.

If you’re already forced to skip the straw, and didn’t bring a reusable cup, why not skip the lid next time you purchase coffee?

Make an effort to give up gum as it is made of a synthetic rubber.

Be prepared and request using your own container for takeout or leftovers when going out to eat.

Opt for shopping for bulk items instead of individual servings and make a conscious effort to utilize farmers markets as suppliers will often refill a container for you.
