Power of "C"

Armoring up your immune system has probably been on many of our minds these days and what better way to do this than through diet? Among the multitude of health benefits it provides, Vitamin C, otherwise known as ascorbic acid truly deserves a spotlight. Did you know that this powerful antioxidant enhances the absorption of iron, the mineral responsible for transporting oxygen around the body? Even more so when iron comes in the non-heme form which is found in plants, grains or eggs as opposed to heme iron which is found in meat.

With summer just around the corner, keep an eye out for seasonal produce rich in Vitamin C. Some of the greatest sources come from bell peppers, broccoli, strawberries, mango and tomato juice.
